CHILDREN'S SACRED ART  WORKSHOP

This season I cannot wait to pull out my pure powder pigments and wash a few panels with genuine gesso to prepare for this simple sacred art class for children.  I am offering workshops in two locations this year.  In Front Royal, Our artwork will be completed in a single two hour session from start to finish.  In Minneapolis, we will meet after school for one week.  In both locations, We will first study some beautiful icons and sacred art and then create our own sacred artwork from authentic traditional materials.  Because of the delicate nature of materials in this study, classes will be limited in size.  Please see the schedule on the workshop details page for available session times and age groups.

Skills we will develop:

Purity of color: how color can be clear and harmonious

Art terms: tempera, pigments, transparent, glaze, wash, simplicity

Technique: creating egg tempera paint and applying light rays over color

Gold leaf Halos: application and significance

Project:

We will create a small sacred artwork to celebrate the connection between the Christmas and Easter Seasons.
